CIT = Collagen Induction Therapy – the wholly grail for skincare treatments.
The pinnacle non-surgical anti-ageing treatment;
Has the ability to reduce scarring;
Soften lines and wrinkles;
Reduce pores;
Improve sagging skin;
Revert discolouration;
Activate skin cells;
This is all achieved with no down time and results that continue for months following treatment.

BUT WHAT IS IT???

Collagen Induction Therapy / Dermal Needling / Micro Needling / Skin Needling are all the same treatments and they are (and have been for a period of time) the most effective non-surgical skin treatment available.
The concept of CIT is based on using the skin’s own ability to repair itself by creating a controlled, precise, micro injure to the skin which creates and stimulates a positive wound-healing cascade, which stimulates your collagen and elastin production, releases growth factors, activates skin cells in the lower level of the skin and ultimately improves the skin’s appearance, texture, and function.

This is done using a cosmetic mirco-needling device (CIT Pen) that contains a single use, sterile mirco-needle cartridge that penetrates the skin at varying depths and speeds (depending on area and skin concern) creating mirco-vertical channels into the skin. These channels and the mirco-wounds that the needles make stimulate collagen and elastin production, which is what your whole skin is made up of (but slows and breaks with age!)
This treatment is a kick in the bum for all key cells (keratinocytes, melanocytes and the fibroblast) within the skin, and because of this it is normal to continue seeing results for months following as new collagen and elastin settles, strengthens and rejuvenates from within!

Pain level
This whole procedure does sound a little painful but never fear, topical anesthetic can be applied to the treatment area prior.

Down time
The best thing with this treatment is there is very little to no down time. Immediately following treatment your skin may be a little red and flushed (similar to mild sunburn), it may feel slightly tight and sensitive for a few hours.
In the coming days it is expected to be slightly dryer than normal and often has areas of flaky skin due to the increase in cellular turnover. You are given a very specific home-care plan to follow for the first 7 days then you can return to your normal skin regime.

When do I see results?
Visible positive results can be seen from 7 days onward and continue for up to 12 months.

My top 5 reasons why I love CIT treatments

  1. You will get the CIT glow;
As CIT stimulates and activates all the key cells within the skin your skin will perform better making the skin stronger, healthier and have an overall glow and radiance about it.
  1. It helps an array of skin conditions and concerns
The list of concerns that CIT treatments can help is huge!;
  • Minimise lines and wrinkles (anti-ageing!!!)
  • Reduce pore size
  • Improve skin texture
  • Reduce the appearance of scars  (including acne scarring) and stretch marks
  • Reduce pigmentation
  • Improve skin’s elasticity
  1. It doesn’t hurt
It would be easy to imagine that many micro-needles piecing the skin at once would be painful but with CIT if the depth of the needles are going to create any discomfort (the needles depth ranges from 0.5 to 2.0mm, 0.5mm often doesn’t need topical numbing but this is individually assessed) then a topical numbing cream is applied so there is no discomfort at all – meaning CIT can often be relaxing!

  1. It’s the gift that keeps on giving
I love the fact that from one CIT treatment results will continue for the next 12 months as the new collagen and elastin that is created from the CIT treatment settles and strengthens, rejuvenating the overall appearance. There is no other in-salon skin treatment that provides results for so long following initial treatment

  1. It is safe
CIT have been at the forefront of the appearance industry for the past 10 years (I have been doing them for 8 years) what this means is there has been a huge amount of research into the benefits both immediately following and over time. There is also very refined protocol and procedures that I must follow when completing a CIT. All CIT “pens” have advanced technology, which eliminates any adverse damage to the skin. Each needle cartridge is medical-grade stainless steel.
